Anne was a very healthy, active, and caring woman who gave generously of herself and loved her family very much. In June 2020 after exhibiting sudden speech problems, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Glioblastoma brain cancer, a devastating disease whose cause remains largely unknown, and for which there is currently no cure. Average life expectancy is 12-18 months with only 25% patients surviving more than a year.
Anne received the current standard treatment (surgery followed by 6 weeks of radiation and chemotherapy, followed by more chemotherapy) and faced each day with courage, grace and a posititve and hopeful outlook. However this was a very aggressive cancer and as the tumours continued to grow each day, her mental and physical abilities were taken from her until palliative care was required. She passed away at her home surrounded by family in April 2021, only 10 months after her diagnosis. She was loved dearly by so many, and has left a huge void in the lives of her family and friends.
This page has been developed as a tribute to honour Anne’s life.
Research is ongoing to find better detection methods and treatments, uncover the cause of this seemingly random cancer (that affects approx 25 people in 100,000), increase survival times and hopefully one day find a prevention/cure.
All donations from this page from caring people like you will be used by the Canadian Cancer Society to expedite these goals and spare not only those inflicted with this terrible cancer, but also alleviate the pain of loss experienced by their loved ones.
Thank you.
