Through this page, I hope to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society whose mission is the eradication of cancer and the enhancement of the quality of life of people living with cancer. I embrace this mission and hope you do to. With continued support for the Society, fewer people in the future will have to lose their loved ones before their time.
The Debra T. Bertrand Memorial Fund was established in 2011 after the passing of our dear and beloved Debra to cancer. This site was created in her memory.
I n January 2011 I lost my mother, Debra T. Bertrand, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Her brave and courageous battle inspired so many people, and she left us all with a spirit of kindness and love to help and care for others. There are few words to truly describe the loss of someone so special and so loved. The blight that cancer has wrought to our friends, family, and society is one that will take many years to defeat. We must take strength from all those whose determination it is to annihilate cancer and put a halt to the needless suffering it has brought to so many innocent lives.
In the loving memory of Debra and her devotion to helping others we have established the Debra T. Bertrand Memorial Fund with the Canadian Cancer Society. The purpose of such as fund is to support the cancer society’s services for patients and the family and loved-ones it supports. The goal of the memorial fund is to raise $10,000 over the next two years and, even if in a small way, assist others in their fearless and relentless battle with cancer. Debra would have liked nothing less than to see the fight against this disease continue.
I appeal to all who know the horrors of cancer and its effect on patients, family, and friends. In a perfect world cancer would not exist. Painfully it does and it is growing. Breakthroughs in early detection have changed and saved countless lives. Existing procedures for cancer patients, while agonizing, have shown promise. Please help us to help others.
