On March 4, 2022 we said a sad goodbye to Gary, age 70. Gary was a loving husband to Nadine (deceased) for 46 years and a wonderful father to Melissa and Kelly (Lynda). Devoted son to Jack and Eileen (deceased), supportive brother to Mary-Ellen, and brother in-law to Dan (Wendy) and Fran (deceased). World class Papa to his grandson Levi and “Uncle Scary” to Deanna, Blake, and our Windmill family.
Gary was a quiet man, but you always knew how he was feeling by the look on his face. Gary could light up a room with his personality, classic one liners, and loved a good party. Nadine, his kids, and music were his greatest loves. He was in a band called Windmill with his lifelong best friends. He raised Melissa and Kelly to appreciate classic rock, which is always playing at the family cottage.
He may have been a man of few words but he made sure the people in his life knew they were loved. We were the luckiest family to have him as a Dad, Husband, Brother, Papa, Uncle and are all struggling to process our loss.
Gary was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2021. Complications with the disease took him, but not without a fight. Thank you to the doctors and nurses at St Michael’s hospital for taking such good care of him and for being so supportive. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to ask for donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in his name.
Dad, you are loved and admired by so many, but none more than your family. We are trying to find some peace in knowing you are reunited with Mom and will watch over us. We will miss you always and are so appreciative for all the wonderful memories you’ve left us with. Keep singing, dancing and bringing the party!
