Merilyn Laura Spicer (Stewart) 78, of Don Mills Ontario after a long struggle with cancer passed away peacefully at 5:00pm Monday December 25th, 2017 at Sunnybrook Hospital Toronto. She was born to William and Islay Stewart. She married Alan Spicer on August 31, 1957 and he survives.
Also surviving are her son's Raymond, Timothy and Scott and daughter in-law and wife of Scott, Christy, grandson Kyle and granddaughter Nicole. Merilyn's son Steven Spicer, father William Stewart, mother Islay Stewart, brother, Jim Stewart preceded her in death.
Merilyn lived in Toronto and raised her children as a stay home mother until she later worked for General Motors Insurance of Canada. She loved to volunteer at the school library, watching out for the children in the neighbourhood, baking, knitting, spending time at her parents cottage and traveling the world including many cruise liner vacations.
Through this page, I hope to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society whose mission is the eradication of cancer and the enhancement of the quality of life of people living with cancer. I embrace this mission and hope you do to. With continued support for the Society, fewer people in the future will have to lose their loved ones before their time.
