Peter Klaus Schluter passed away peacefully at St. Catharines General Hospital on July 29th at the age of 79 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Peter is survived by his wife Yvonne and his three daughters Sandra Biggs (Adrian), Christine Schluter and Catherine Cudmore (Alan) and his four grandchildren; Aiden, Brooke, Charlotte and Bennett.
Peter was born on February 5th, 1941 in Berlin Germany to Erwin and Herta Schluter. He immigrated to Canada at the age of 14 and spent many years traveling the world as a merchant marine. He eventually settled in St. Catharines and Peter and Yvonne married in 1972.
Peter was a true adventurer at heart and if he was not travelling he was telling stories of past or upcoming trips. Over the years he journeyed to all four corners of the world. It was hard to find a continent or even a country that he hadn’t set foot on. He had a welcoming nature towards all and was unequivocally dedicated to his family. His children will always remember him as a supportive and proud father, and his grandchildren will forever be touched by his enthusiasm and zest for life.
The family will be gathering privately and a separate celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank the caregivers of the Niagara LHIN and the Staff at St. Catharines General for their care and dedication.
