Hwail Kim unexpectedly passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on October 20, 2018. He will be sadly missed by his wife, two daughters, and four grandchildren.
Hwail was a courageous cancer survivor for 17 years. He was first diagnosed with nasopharygeal cancer in 2001, and then again in 2010 with oral cancer of his hard palate. He endured radiation and chemotherapy treatment, as well as oral surgery. While living with the side effects of his cancer treatment was difficult, he was able to enjoy precious time with his family, especially his grandchildren. This was made possible through life-saving treatment options developed through cancer research. His family found tremendous support through the Canadian Cancer Society.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks to consider making a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Hwail Kim to continue the fight to eradicate this horrible disease and to enhance the quality of life of people living with cancer. With continued support for the Society, fewer people in the future will have to lose their loved ones before their time.
Every donation brings us one step closer to preventing cancer, detecting it earlier, improving treatments and helping Canadians live longer, healthier lives.
Together, we can change cancer forever.
All funds donated through this page will support the work of the Canadian Cancer Society. The Society makes more impact, against more cancers, in more communities, than any other cancer charity in Canada.
Please make a generous gift today. Thank you.
