On October 9, 2016 Ross breathed his last breath after 66 years of life to the fullest. His battle with lung cancer was finally over and he is now in heaven and at peace with his Creator.
His short fight was a battle to the end and like his life he never gave up, lasting far longer than the experts expected and earning the respect of the medical staff who knew him - same as everyone who had the pleasure of getting to know him.
He had no enemies, and had a way of endearing everyone with his jokes and charming persona. He served our city as a firefighter for 33 years, retiring in 2005. He was a loyal civil servant, husband, father and friend rarely missing a day of work and attending all the important moments in his family's lives. He will be fondly remembered for his generosity, warm smile and most of all terrific sense of humour.
His firstborn grandson, Gabriel wanted to do something more to honour him. He was very close to his grandfather, and called him "Bumpa", a nickname he loved and cherished from his grandchildren. Gabriel wanted to help raise donations in memorium of Bumpa to help further the cause of finding a cure or better treatment for the horrible disease that took his Bumpa from him too early.
This memorial fund is dedicated to Bumpa. Help us find a cure for lung cancer, and prevent the damaged caused to other families by losing a special loved one.
Thank you,
The Ellison Family.
