Why I walk

I have family members that have fought and lost their battle as well as one who survived.

I have been doing the Relay for Life for the last three years.

When I first did this I did not know what to expect, I was amazed at how many people were involved in this cause. What I did not realize was how much of an emotional toil this took on everyone including me and I was amazed at how many people from my community had been affected by this disease and how many are survivors. I lost both my maternal grandparents to cancer and I have an aunt who is a survivor, so this is a cause that is near and dear to my heart.

This year if everything goes well, my aunt will be able to join us for the survivor lap because unfortunately in her town they do not do the Relay For Life. The other thing that I am very excited about this year is that my oldest daughter will be joining me on this year's walk.
