Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Canadian Cancer Society’s Great Spin?
The Canadian Cancer Society’s Great Spin is a fundraising activity where you are invited to give it all you’ve got for the childhood cancer cause.
Register as an individual or as a team and decide on the challenge that you want to take up: an hour of spinning for beginners or three hours for aficionados. Some regions offer exclusive challenges. Benefit from loads of tips for successful fundraising. On D-day, soak up the festive music and electrifying atmosphere to give it all you’ve got!
The first edition of this event took place in 2009 in Pont-Rouge. Since then, more than a dozen events are held each year in Quebec.
Why did you decide to partner with the Spin For Life event?
Spin For Life is a third party fundraising event that invites participants to pedal for the Canadian Cancer Society’s benefit.
For the 2020 edition, we decided to allow participants to access this virtual spinning event since they can’t participate in the Great Spin.
How to participate?
Whether you pedal on your own, with friends, or with colleagues (while respecting health measures in place), what matters is that you join us to change lives!
This year, the Great Spin is partnering with Spin For Life for our 2020 edition so you can spin for the cause from the comfort of your own home.
The Spin For Life event will be held virtually on November 21 and registration is free for all Great Spin participants.

What should I do with the money I collect (offline donations)?
If you have cash or check donations in your possession, contact Joanie Gaudreault to find out how to remit these donations.
Will there be Great Spin events in 2021?
We haven’t made a decision yet about the 2021 edition. We’re evaluating all our options in terms of the format and date of the event, while staying abreast of public health instructions and government decisions related to Covid-19.
How is the money I raise used for the fight against cancer?
Money raised helps the Canadian Cancer Society to fund promising research projects, provide information services and support services for people living with cancer and to advocate for public policies that reduce cancer risk and improve the quality of life of those living with the disease.
