ABOUT RELAY FOR LIFE

Relay For Life and COVID-19

This year, we have reimagined Relay For Life into Relay At Home — a fun, interactive way to Relay online and keep our communities safe during COVID-19.

With nearly 1 in 2 Canadians expected to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, we all know someone whose life has been changed by this disease. But each day, our friends, family, neighbours, and colleagues prove to us that while cancer can change everything, it doesn’t have to define who you are.

At the Canadian Cancer Society Relay For Life, we show the people we love that life is bigger than your diagnosis — and that no matter where you live, you don’t have to face cancer alone.

Community is bigger than cancer

Celebrate cancer survivors

If you are a cancer survivor, cancer-free or living with the disease, we want to celebrate you and the hope that you provide to your community. When you sign up as a survivor for Relay For Life, you will be honoured during the first lap of Relay — the Survivors’ Victory Lap.

Remember those we've lost

Whether you Relay for a parent, child, grandparent, or friend, luminaries are a powerful symbol that our loved ones are always in our hearts. The Luminary Ceremony at Relay For Life allows us to honour and remember those we love, every step of the way.

Make a difference

Signing up for Relay helps us fund groundbreaking research, provide the largest cancer support system in the country and advocate on behalf of all Canadians for important social change. With your help, we can continue to help those affected by cancer live their lives as fully as possible.

Why we Relay

Relay is more than a fundraiser. It unites a collective of Canadians who are a force-for-life in the face of cancer. It’s a chance for participants of all ages to come together and celebrate the survivors in our communities, who send a powerful message of hope for those living with the disease. It’s a place to honour and remember those we’ve lost to cancer.

Wherever your Relay takes place, you’ll be joining thousands of people across the country who have shown up for their communities. With your help, we can prove that together, we are bigger than cancer.

About the Canadian Cancer Society

The Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) is the only national charity that supports Canadians with all cancers in communities across the country. No other organization does what we do; we are the voice for Canadians who care about cancer. We fund groundbreaking research, provide a support system for all those affected by cancer and advocate to governments for important social change.
