Independent Community Run: Team Sheila - CIBC Run for the Cure

Independent Community Run

Team Sheila

One out of eight women in Canada will receive a breast cancer diagnosis in her lifetime. The month is dedicated to restoring hope to those living with the disease or who have survived itThrough awareness initiatives, research, and fundraising, we can continue to support those in their fight with breast cancer.

Every year, an estimated 27,900 Canadians are diagnosed with breast cancer and thousands more are living with the disease.

For those people and their families, we must act now.

My mom, Sheila, was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. Her journey included chemotherapy, a double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction, and many emotional ups and downs. Despite all of the hard days, today she stands alive, strong, and a testament to surviving cancer.

My mom’s journey has had a great impact on my family, and me personally. My mom shows me that no matter how difficult the circumstances, challenges can be overcome.
