Alysha's Cancer Crushers

We have come together as a team to support the estimated 27,700 women and 260 men diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Canada.

We are participating and fundraising for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 1, 2023, because we believe better treatment options and survival outcomes are possible. And we want to support all Canadians impacted by breast cancer, including our family and friends.

With your help, we can reach our fundraising goal and fund groundbreaking breast cancer research and support programs and services for those impacted by this disease. Together, we can create a future without breast cancer.

Please donate today. Help us give Canadians impacted by breast cancer a reason to have hope.

Thank you! We appreciate your generous support.

P.S. Did you know? Participants who raise $2,500 or more as an individual will have the option to choose where they want their fundraising dollars to go. Select from one of six meaningful and impactful breast cancer designation areas below to designate your funds.

My Personal Cancer Story

I was diagnosed with triple negative invasive ductal carcinoma October 2021 after finding a pea-sized lump Summer 2021. After being diagnosed it was found that I was a PALB2 gene carrier as well. Getting diagnosed with cancer turned my world upside down, I went from being a "healthy" 35 year old to being someone with breast cancer. A short time after diagnosis the wonderful team of doctors at RVH had a treatment plan in place and I started chemotherapy November 2021. I was prescribed AC-PACL (DD) and had to go for chemo every other week for 16 weeks. After completing chemo the next step was surgery, I underwent a double mastectomy with DIEP reconstruction in April 2022 (that was a lengthy recovery). Once everything was healed my last stage of treatment was radiation. I was prescribed 16 radiation treatments which were completed July 2022. Due to my type of cancer being triple negative I was not required to take any oral chemotherapy after completing radiation.  I continue to have to go for routine check ups with the RVH team to ensure I remain healthy after my cancer journey.
