Give It Your Breast Shot

Team "Give it your Breast Shot"

As many of you already know, I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer, April 2023. As you can imagine, it was the worst day of my life, followed by a physically and emotionally draining year. The first thing that I thought of when I heard the words "you have cancer" was, how can I leave my husband and 2 small children at such a young age. I felt anxious, helpless and so alone, despite having such a strong support system around me.

My treatment included surgery in May 2023, intense chemotherapy from June-September 2023 and radiation in October and November 2023. I am waiting on another surgery and will continue 10 years of medication to help lower my risk of recurrence. My doctors are all so amazing and have helped me navigate this difficult time. Fortunately, I have been told by my doctors that I am NED (no evidence of disease) and have a good long term prognosis.

If it weren't for all the medical advancements that I benefited from, my prognosis would be a much different story. While breast cancer is still an incurable disease, many women are living long and normal lives with all stages of the disease due to the significant progress made in research and treatment. I am incredibly grateful to be a recipient of all the targeted and personalized treatment for this disease.

I wasn't overly outward about my situation while in active treatment but am now asking for you support in this year's Run for the Cure to help raise money for this incredible cause. I want to play a small part in helping eradicate this terrible disease that affects 1 in 8 women. Please help me make a difference!
