Since 2013 Pebbles Boulder Holders have been participating in the yearly CIBC Run for the Cure.  We as a Team have raised over $10,000.00 towards cancer research.  When I started the team I had been newly diagnosed with breast cancer and finding a cure became my life passion.  Cancer affects everyone it doesn’t discriminate.  My sister' whom I miss terribly passed away with stage 4 Inflammatory cancer.   She fought so hard and so bravely, she was a real warrior. It seems every day I hear of another friend, acquaintance or family member that is affected in some way by cancer.  Chemo and radiation are not our friends and the side effects of the treatment continue for years after and sometimes never leave us.  But without treatment the outcome is not in our favor.

Every day 70 Canadians will hear the words :

“you have breast cancer”  While these Canadians are living longer, healthier lives there is still so much work to be done.

Can you imagine the day we hear these words “ A cure has been found for cancer”.

 

I can’t thank enough, my family, my friends, my coworkers and everyone who has supported this team.  We wouldn’t be the team we are without all your help.   To all of you who have returned year after year to support me and the team you guys are true heroes.

By participating in this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure we are a force to be reckoned with.  We run in honor of all the incredible people in our lives affected by cancer.
