Toronto: Slater Team - CIBC Run for the Cure

Toronto

Slater Team

My family and team are running in the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 6, in Sir Winston Churchill Park. This will be our 21st year participating!

It seems that each year, without fail, we become connected to someone who has been impacted directly or indirectly by breast cancer. This year, I’m dedicating my run to our dear friend Maria-Leena Clarke, who lost her battle with breast cancer early this year and is sorely missed.

Every year in Canada, an estimated 30,500 women and 290 men are diagnosed with breast cancer. On average, it is estimated that 84 Canadian women are diagnosed with breast cancer every day, and 15 Canadian women die from the disease daily. Your support can make a life-changing difference for many people. Each dollar I raise will go towards funding groundbreaking breast cancer research and supporting programs and services for those affected by this disease.

Last year, the CIBC Run for the Cure had 46,000 participants across Canada and raised over $14.5 million, contributing to over $507 million raised since 1992. It is Canada's largest single-day, volunteer-led event for breast cancer, and my family is proud to participate, volunteer, and fundraise.

Thank you for your generous support!

P.S. Did you know that just $300 can help provide healthy home-cooked meals for guests at a Canadian Cancer Society lodge during their stay? Lodge guests receive wholesome foods like fresh fruits and vegetables and meals customized to their dietary needs, including those arising from cancer treatment, like liquid and soft food diets.
