I'm Joe Lau, a police officer serving with the Surrey RCMP. I joined the Cops for Cancer Tour de Valley for my first ride in 2018. This year I'm back in hopes to make more of a difference in fighting pediatric cancer. I can't stress enough that Cops for Cancer supports children and families in our own communities.
I can say with conviction that each and every one of us has personally or is connected to someone who has or is currently fighting cancer.
I have met some of the most amazing little human beings though this journey. They have demonstrated strength and courage that we could all learn from. I'm asking for your support. We don't have the advantages of expensive media campaigns or print ads. Cops for Cancer are a local group of dedicated first responders and law enforcement officers who volunteer their time, effort, and personal funds to help our local sick kids.
The money raised from this event helps fund leading-edge cancer research that is improving cancer treatments, preventing cancer and saving lives; provide reliable and up-to-date information on cancer, risk reduction and treatment; offer vital community-based support services for people living with cancer and their families; and advocate for healthy public policies.
In addition to funding research, we send our local patients to Camp Goodtimes in Maple Ridge BC. It's a special place where a sick child can experience the joy of the outdoors, camp, and just be a kid. It's a place where their families can play together and just take a break. All while having access to medical care and supervision.
Please pledge me and help me support this worthy cause. Every pledge takes us one step further in the fight against cancer. Online pledging is secure and it saves the Canadian Cancer Society money by reducing administrative costs.
We all see need on a daily basis. We know life isn't fair. Anything you donate will help make a difference.
Thanks for your support!
