I'm Alli and this is a brief look into why I'm here asking for your support for Tour de Rock 2020. I had the once in a lifetime honour of being invited as a member of the 2018 Tour de Rock team to fundraise for Camp Goodtimes and Pediatric Cancer Research. The impact of that experience was life-changing. I have continued to support Tour de Rock and the kids and families that depend on it both as a trainer and crew member and now as an alumni rider helping to make this very different year as special as possible.
My motivation comes from two beautiful young cancer warriors who stole my heart when I started my journey in 2018 and continue to inspire me in many different ways. First is the amazingly vibrant and healthy Chloe, who is growing like a weed, rides a big bike and fills my heart with such warmth and peace seeing her thriving every day. She and her brother Carter attended Camp Goodtimes and hearing the joy and excitement in their stories of camp confirms the importance of fundraising to support this cause. While at camp they made friends with Kaiden, my other little warrior and friend I was paired up with. My lessons from Kaiden continue daily. His cancer came back while we were riding in September 2018 and he passed in March 2019. His determination and strength were unfathomable and the lightning bolt "Flash" symbol became a representation of how Kaiden's story was electrifying us all. His one true wish was to be able to do something to make sure that other kids didn't have to go through what he did. He believed 100% in Tour de Rock being able to help make that happen and I promised him I would fight his fight and tell his story. So here we are in 2020...one big Tour de Rock Ohana...Tour de Rock is going to look quite different but I'm going to ride my bike to keep my promise to Kaiden and see Chloe's sparkling smiling face...and I ask, humbly, for your support.
