Hello, my name is Jamie. Thanks for taking the time to check out what Cops for Cancer is all about!
I work as a paramedic in Quesnel, BC. In both my professional and personal life, I've seen many lives touched by cancer. Perhaps the worst though is when it's a child.
One of my childhood friends, Avril Chevingy, was 6 years old when she was diagnosed with Leukemia. I was one grade ahead of her in elementary school, and I helped teach her gymnastics class. She lost her battle only two years later.
When I became a rider in 2016, I met a boy named Justice Granger. He was diagnosed with cancer at 2, but he won. He has since relapsed twice, the most recent was May of this year. 2020 has been a tough year for many. Justice's cancer isn't taking a break though, so even I'm these tough times, neither will we. For Justice and others like him, we will keep raising money with the hope one day we won't have to.
But until then, please pledge me if you are able and help me reach my fundraising goal. Online pledging is secure and it saves the Canadian Cancer Society by reducing administrative costs.
Thanks for helping us towards the dream of a world of children without cancer!!
