My name is Jay and I’m a cancer survivor. My Brother, Father and I are all cancer survivors thanks to leading edge cancer research. My mother is living with chronic leukemia and hopefully together we will find a cure.
This year I celebrated my 50th birthday. In celebration, and in honour of my family, friends and community of Esquimalt I have chosen to ring it in in true Jay style with my trusted companion Saxe, my 4 year old Vizsla.
Everyday Saxe and I walk 10km up and down the coast of the traditional territories of the Songhees Nation of the Lugunguin People. Maybe you’ve seen us stopping for cuddles along the way! Saxe is the redheaded canine version of myself - equally energetic with stubborn determination! #joyofsaxe
On September 30th 2021, in honour of my 50th year, Saxe and I will be walking 50km across lower Vancouver Island from Duncan to Esquimalt Town Square in support of the Tour De Rock - one of the most successful and long running fundraisers in the province. Raising money for children and their families affected by pediatric cancer.
All money raised from this event helps fund leading-edge cancer research that is:
improving cancer treatments, preventing cancer and saving lives
providing risk reduction and for treatment.
offering vital community-based support services for children living with cancer , families and
advocating for healthy public policies
Please help me reach my fundraising goal! Give what you can. Every little bit helps. Each pledge takes us one step closer to a cure for cancer. Online pledging is secure and it saves the Canadian Cancer Society money by reducing administrative costs. Tax receipts are available.
There is a cure out there, let's try to find one together. Please support my walk with Saxe.
Thanks in advance for your support and encouragement!
