Kshaw Rides Again!
In a little over a week, and 13 years after my original Tour, I will have the privilege to once again squish into some spandex and participate in one leg of the 2021 Tour de Rock, riding to community stops in Mill Bay, Sooke, and Westshore.
Many things have changed for me since this grainy flip phone photo was taken in 2008:
0 kids —> 2 kids
0 wife —> 1 wife
Sidney RCMP —> Sooke RCMP
One thing has not changed however: Children are still fighting cancer.
Tragically, a number of kids I met in 2008 are no longer with us. Some continue to suffer and fight effects of their childhood cancer and / or treatments. Some, are fully recovered and leading healthy lives.
I am so grateful for the relationships I have with the junior team members I’ve met through the Tour de Rock and so proud of everything they continue to do and accomplish!
There is still work to be done though.
In 2008 I probably told you it would be the only time I ever asked you for money - well, this probably won’t be the first time I’ve mislead you …
If you are able, please consider supporting this year’s Tour de Rock
As a parent this time round, this cause is even closer to my heart, and I am so proud to, with your generous support, raise money for pediatric cancer research and to fund Camp Goodtimes, a summer camp for children and families affected by cancer in our community.
