Hello, and thank your for visiting my page!

My name is Jamie MacPherson, and I'm a paramedic rider for Cops for Cancer Tour de de North. This year we will be biking from Prince George to Prince Rupert, over 800km! The money raised will go to pediatric cancer research and support programs like Camp Goodtimes, a summer camp with medical oversight for children with cancer and their families. 

I have been volunteering with Cops for Cancer since 2015, a cause that is close to my heart. When I was in elementary school, I lost one of my childhood friends to cancer. Her name was Avril Chevigny. Avril was my original inspiration for volunteering with Cops for Cancer, but over the past 8 years of meeting kids with cancer and their families, I have an increasing number of reasons to ride. I ride for Justice, who has experienced cancer 3 times, and his sister Serenity who donated her bone marrow to him. I ride for Weston and Bennett, 4 year old twin brothers who are currently receiving treatment for leukemia. 

I'd like to share with you a story about when I visited Camp Goodtimes. The Cops for Cancer riders staff a 'casino night' where the kids play games and can win Monopoly money. At the end of the casino night, the kids can use their money to buy a wide range of experiences/activities like soaking a police officer in the dunk tank. They can also exchange their Monopoly money for real cash to be donated to Make a Wish Foundation, so another child can have their wish fulfilled. I would expect most kids would buy an activity. These kids though have faced so much in their short lives and are mature beyond their years that the majority of these campers chose to donate their money to other kids. I'd like you to join me in raising money for them. 

Pediatric cancer is different than adult cancers. Pediatric cancer requires different research, and different treatments. Please make a donation on my behalf and help me reach my fundraising goal! Donating online is secure, with no administrative fees from the Canadian Cancer Society, meaning more money goes to supporting pediatric cancer research and support programs. 

Because one child with cancer is one child too many.
