I am once again participating in Cops for Cancer to support the mission of the Canadian Cancer Society.
This is my 7th tour and I keep coming back because I believe in this cause so much! Cancer has touched all of our lives but the worst thing to endure is a child battling this terrible disease. Anything I can do to raise funds and awareness for this cause, is also an honour for me as I get to watch these young people grow up with a chance, because of the great work that is being done in cancer research.
The money raised from this event helps fund leading-edge cancer research that is improving cancer treatments, preventing cancer and saving lives; provide reliable and up-to-date information on cancer, risk reduction and treatment; offer vital community-based support services for people living with cancer and their families; and advocate for healthy public policies.
There is a magical place for kids who are going through their cancer journey, right here in Maple Ridge called "Camp Goodtimes" It's been described by the camp goers as "Camp Disneyland for Kids". Here the kids get to feel like normal kids for a week, they can rock climb, do water sports, learn the high ropes, do crafts and games - basically just be kids, with others who understand what they are going thru. The camp is medically supported so the kids can be cared for and receive their treatments as needed.
It costs $2000 to send one kid to camp for a week. This year our goal for each rider is to raise $4000 each - I'd love to raise more but these are trying times for everyone. The pandemic had been even harder on the kids who are immune compromised and have to be extra careful with their health.
Please pledge me and help me reach my fundraising goal! Every pledge takes us one step further in the fight against cancer. Online pledging is secure and it saves the Canadian Cancer Society money by reducing administrative costs.
Thanks for your support!
