I am participating in Cops for Cancer to support the mission of the Canadian Cancer Society. This will be my third year as a rider and second year with Tour de Coast. I have previously completed the Tour de Valley.
I was motivated to participate as a rider and raise money because of a colleague that passed away after his struggle with cancer. He was an inspirational person to me, taught me many important life lessons, and would consistently share his love and admiration for his children. I have chosen to participate in the Cops for Cancer fundraiser because it aligned with my personal goals of developing community and honouring my friend and colleague’s battle with cancer.
It goes without saying that cancer affects everyone. Whether you have cancer or it is your friend or family battling it. The only way to win the battle is to improve the odds. That can only be done through research and science. Supporting my Cops for Cancer initative supports research into pediatric cancer and the development of solutions to improve the odds of winning the battle for children. The research will development better or less evasive treatment options. It will make the lives of children effected better.
The initiative further supports Camp Goodtimes (http://campgoodtimes.org). Camp Goodtimes offers an extraordinary camp experience in a medically-supervised, safety-focused, and supportive environment for children going through treatment. It allows kids to be kids while they go through their cancer treatment; it allows kids to support kids while they share and develop resiliency through the sharing of their stories and treatment.
Thank you for your support and donations. I appreciate you taking the time to attend and read this webpage.
