Hi I’m Katie. I was raised by a single mom on Lasqueti Island for 9 years of my early childhood. I learned from a young age the strength of small communities, and the need to rely on your neighbours.

As an adult I am now an advanced life support paramedic and still remain strong in my values of creating and helping community. I have had the privilege to have spent 2 previous Tour years on support crew, and have seen first hand how Vancouver Island embodies those same values.

The Canadian Cancer Society-Cops for Cancer, Tour de Rock has raised 28 million dollars since it’s inception 26 years ago to support paediatric cancer research, and we know that treatment plans and thriving after diagnosis, has drastically changed for the positive in that time.

Let me tell you why I’m riding. Camp Goodtimes. A magical place on Loon Lake that is fully funded through our fundraising efforts, and equipped with a full medical team that can provide a majority of their treatments onsite. Whether kids are beginning their cancer journeys, or they are in remission and still navigating common side effects of their treatments, they can attend camp and enjoy all the incredible camp activities.
