We are participating in the Tour De North for which Police agencies and emergency service personnel from across Northern BC will ride 850km to support children and families living with cancer and beyond. 

The money raised from this event will support the Canadian Cancer Society in fueling new pediatric cancer research discoveries and sending 600 kids each year to Camp Goodtimes, a medically-supervised recreation experience for children and teens affected by cancer and their families.  

I am a Constable of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and have been so for 3 years. My father, Rob Orlowski, was a Police Officer with the Ontario Provincial Police and retired after 30 plus years of service. Similarily, my Step-mother, Tracy Reid, was an employee of the York Regional Police Service and retired a short time after my Dad. Together, they made for my endless motivation and support to become a Police Officer myself. As the RCMP is known for, I was sent to a posting I love nearly 4500 kilometres from home. In recent years, my life was indirectly touched by Cancer. Both my Dad and Step-Mom developed Cancer. I lost my Grand-Father to Cancer many years prior, so this news had shaken my life. 

In classic tough and wise parent fasion, they both fought and continue to fight with smiles on their face. Their road has been long and will continue to be long. Tour De North serves as an oppurtunity for me to do my part to aid in the fight against cnacer and as a way to support my parents as they have supported me!
