The Pedal for Hope team is celebrating twenty years of pedaling in support of children living with cancer and their families. They will again give hope and honour our Special Friends along the tour journey. 

I am participating in Cops for Cancer to support the mission of the Canadian Cancer Society’s Cops for Cancer. Starting May 6th ,2024. I, as a crew member for the Pedal for Hope Team, will be gearing up for a weeklong cycling tour in the Durham and Peterborough Region of Ontario.  

Bio

Kathryn is a current member of the Durham Regional Police Service. 

When Kathryn isn't working she enjoys spending time with her horses Ellie and Memphis, walking her dog Cameron or curled up reading a book with her kitten Lady Bug. 

Kathryn comes from a sport background with many years working in international hockey. 

Fun fact, Kathryn doesn't know how to ride a bike but wanted to be involved with the Pedal for Hope team so came on board as support staff. 

Kathryn is looking very forward to the 2024 tour and can't wait to have some fun! 

History 

In 2005, the Peterborough Chapter of Cops for Cancer took on a new identity. The Pedal for Hope Cycling Team was born and local children living with cancer had a new support team behind them! Local police personnel, first responders, a retired N.H.L. hockey player and a great crew of support personnel have been dedicating their time to this worthy cause. 

The Pedal for Hope team cycles throughout Central Ontario visiting local schools and businesses delivering a powerful message about kids living with cancer. We are proud of what we give back to our community but can’t do it without the support of our ”Pedal for Hope Friends” and their families, our police services, our schools, local businesses, and our sponsors.

The money raised from this event is designated to the Pediatric Family Counselling Service as well as leading pediatric cancer research. It helps fund leading-edge pediatric cancer research that is improving cancer treatments, preventing cancer and saving lives. Money raised will also help the Canadian Cancer Society advocate for healthy public policies and provide up-to-date information on cancer, risk reduction and treatment. Vital community-based support services for children and young adults living with cancer and their families will also be able to continue.
