UPDATE:

We had a beautiful sunny day when all 700 plus students and staff greeted the Pedal for Hope team outside!  Thank you for your energy and enthusiasm.  They loved the signs and cheering!

Together at school we raised $676.60 from our ice cream and ice lolly sales!  Way to go St. Elizabeth!

Pedal for Hope – the excitement returns as we prepare to welcome back in person and cheer on the Pedal for Hope Team as they ride by St. Elizabeth on : Tuesday May 17th at 1:30.

St. Elizabeth has done an outstanding job supporting this great team every year since the Spring of 2015!
Since 2005 officers from Durham Regional Police, Peterborough Police, the RCMP, OPP, and Metrolinx have visited schools on their bicycles to raise awareness of pediatric cancer. This year funds raised will support the Pediatric Family Counseling Service that provides support to families coping with a cancer diagnosis. This tour will also raise funds to support pediatric cancer research by Dr. Nielsen.
As COVID is still a reality in our communities, the officers will only be doing a school drive by and will not enter the school to take part in an assembly.
For those that are new to our school community, you can find further information and pictures at www.pedalforhope.ca.

What can you do to support this great team:

Register for our school team and ask your family and friends to donate to this great case. You are here already - now just join the team! http://www.cancer.ca/pedalforhope
All students that sign up for our team by May 17, 2022 at 8am and have a donation made of at least $5.00 on the Canadian Cancer Website will receive a Pedal for Hope Hat when the team visits on May 17th and will be entered into random draws to win prizes! The Pedal for Hope sets your donation goal as $300.00 but we really appreciate any amount you can raise! There will be no paper donation envelopes this year.

Check your SchoolCashOnline Account and participate in our Ice treat day by purchasing an ice cream sandwich or ice lolly to enjoy at school on May 9th and May 16th at last recess for only $2.00!

Ask your Parent or Guardian for permission to shave your head or donate your ponytail at home! Don’t forget to take before and after pictures and send them to Mrs. Smith (zsmith@pvnccdsb.on.ca) to be featured on our School Facebook page and on the Pedal for Hope Website! Ponytails must be at least 12” and will be donated to www.wigsforkids.org Bring your ponytail to school on May 17th to give it to the officers!

GET READY TO MAKE SOME NOISE! We encourage you to make posters and our whole school will line Longworth Avenue and the bus loop to welcome and encourage the riders as they ride their bikes by our school on May 17th!

Questions? See Mrs. Smith in room 209, call her at extension 209 or email zsmith@pvnccdsb.on.ca
