I am riding in the Cops for Cancer Tour de Coast which is an annual cycling event where police agencies and emergency service personnel cycle for 8 days and 800km, raising money for pediatric cancer research and support services at the Canadian Cancer Society. Each year a portion of the money raised helps send 600 children and teens to Camp Goodtimes, a local medically-supervised and safety-focused program that conducts engaging, entertaining, and empowering activities for children and families experiencing cancer. 

Almost everyone is impacted by cancer either directly or indirectly during their life. Like too many other families, mine has had its share of cancer.   I have lost several family members to cancer.  I have stressed waiting for news about a loved ones diagnosis and prognosis.  I have cared for my mother who was palliative with an extremely rare form of cancer.  I have been beside my husband through his cancer diagnosis, treatment, and then shared in the elation of him being cancer free.  This year I ride for all the kids and teens who should never have had to experience this, supporting pediatric cancer research and the programs funded that support their families.
