Tour de Valley 2024: Team Martens - Canadian Cancer Society

Tour de Valley 2024

Team Martens

Hello,
My name is Julie, and this will be my first time riding with Cops for Cancer. I am super excited for the challenge and to be a part of such a motivated team.

Cops for Cancer engages with local police agencies and emergency service personnel to ride over 800km around the Fraser Valley to support kids and families living with cancer. The ride takes place in September 2024.

There are many reasons why I decided to ride this year, one of the big ones is as a paramedic I’ve had the honour of interacting and providing patient care to many kids at various stages along their cancer journey. Whether it be the first time an ambulance is called (leading to a diagnosis) or the transport to BC Children’s Hospital for various related procedures, time spent with these kids and their families always pushes the meaning of resilience to a new level for me.

My goal is to raise a minimum of $6000 for the Canadian Cancer Society, which uses the funds to support new pediatric cancer research and to send these kids and their families to Camp Good Times (a medically supervised camp). These kids earn a well-deserved break from life and I’m hoping to raise enough funds to allow a few of them the opportunity to go have some fun.

Please contribute and help me reach my fundraising goal. All online donations are secure and save the Canadian Cancer Society money by reducing administrative costs. Tax receipts will be emailed immediately after your online donation!

Thank you for your support!
