Keep Your Eye on the Rise: The importance of Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing

1 in 8 Canadian men are expected to be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime- it’s the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Canadian men. Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing is a key step in detecting prostate cancer early. If a test reveals higher levels of PSA, it may indicate the presence of prostate cancer.

If you have already been diagnosed with prostate cancer, keep your eye on the rise of your PSA levels with regular testing, in some cases testing as often as every three months to monitor PSA doubling time, which can reveal if there is a higher risk of the cancer progressing.

It’s also important to encourage the men in your life to talk to their doctor and make an informed decision about whether the PSA test is right for them based on their personal risk factors. If someone you know has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, encourage them to monitor their PSA doubling time and talk to their doctor about treatment options that can delay the progression of prostate cancer

Sutco Transportation Specialists — Over $20,000 raised!

Sutco Transportation Specialists

“Our major fight against cancer started in 2014 with a pink tractor travelling the highways of Canada and the United States. That Pink Tractor campaign helped raise close to $70,000 for cancer research and awareness over 4 years. When that campaign ended in 2018, we were committed to starting the next cancer fighting initiative. With the CTA and some great trucking companies leading the Plaid for Dad campaign we believed this would be a strong fit. Our co-founder, Bob Sutherland, is a survivor of prostate cancer and naturally our industry demographics can greatly benefit from prostate cancer awareness. With a goal to raise over $100,000 over the next 4 years, we are well on our way with $52,568.15 after just 2 years. ”
