FUNDRAISING GOAL

Event Information

Since 1997, police officers and agencies across the country have played essential leadership roles in organizing fundraising and cancer awareness activities for the Canadian Cancer Society’s Cops for Cancer. Now, the program has raised over $54 million to fund life-saving pediatric cancer research and support programs that help children and young adults through their cancer journeys. Participants create fundraisers of their choice while collecting pledges from their co-workers, friends, family and community members.

Why? Because when it comes to taking on cancer, it doesn’t just take a village. It takes a society. Donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society through Cops for Cancer fundraisers help reduce the impact that cancer has on children and their families. They let Canadians know they are never alone on this journey.

We are encouraging those participating to be creative with Cops for Fundraisers this year!

Whether shaving your head, cutting your ponytail, or challenging others in a movement challenge, the sky is the limit. These opportunities for raising funds for pediatric cancer research and support programs have never been more important.

Three steps for success:

  1. Sign up for free as an individual or as a team.
  2. Challenge others to take part! - BE creative with your fundraiser!
  3. Share it to your social media platforms and tag three friends or more to do the same! Tag us @cancersociety! And be sure to add #CopsForCancer. Share your Participant Centre fundraising link with your family and friends over email or social media. The funds you raise will change the future of cancer.

Taryn Young, Cops for Cancer Ambassador

Taryn photo

I am Constable Taryn Young a female Peel Regional Police officer and chairperson of Cops for Cancer. As chairperson of Cops for Cancer in Peel Region, I grew a profound admiration for the Cops for Cancer campaign. As a service, we were able to raise over $80,000.00 in 2023 for Cops for Cancer through events, activities, and community engagement.

I am overjoyed to have been offered the title as 2024 Cops for Cancer Canadian Ambassador. My passion for making a difference in the lives of those who have been affected by cancer have led me to take a personal and dedicated approach to this campaign.

My journey as a female police officer is marked by a commitment to both justice and compassion. Whether patrolling the streets or leading fundraising events, I have truly dedicated myself to creating a safer community together.

As the 2024 Cops for Cancer Canadian Ambassador, I will continue to inspire others with dedication to making a positive impact beyond the badge. Peel Regional Police is proud to support Cops for Cancer and will continue to be a leading service in not only our province but nation in fundraising efforts.

Thank you to the Canadian Cancer Society for this honour and opportunity. I look forward to working with the Canadian Cancer Society to make a further impact on our community in 2024 and for years to come.

-Constable Taryn Young, Peel Regional Police
