Cancer Fighter fundraiser 2019

St. Boniface Minor Hockey Association

Join the hockey family to help fight cancer!

Hockey Fights Cancer™ was founded in 1998 by the NHL and the NHLPA to unite the hockey community in support of cancer patients and their families. The initiative gets an assist from the entire hockey family including players, coaches, officials, corporate partners and fans. Together, the hockey community wants to inspire hope and courage for those who are living with and moving past cancer.

Funds raised will go a long way to assist Canadians living with cancer by providing a:

  • Road to treatment - through our transportation program
  • System of support - through our network of cancer information services

Game-day fundraising ideas

Pledge donations – Have athletes or fans collect donations from within the hockey family, and from friends and supporters of the cause. A fun way to encourage donations is to create a "pledge-a-thon" for the number of goals, points, saves, or other important plays during the game.

Lavender-out game – Get lavender T-shirts or other apparel, to represent the official colour of Hockey Fights Cancer, which represents the fight against all cancers. Offer them for sale prior to the game – with proceeds going to the cause – and encourage fans to fill the arena with lavender on game day. Official Hockey Fights Cancer™ merchandise is available at nhlshop.ca

Local business support – Ask local businesses to sponsor your event by making a donation directly to CCS or by matching any funds raised by your team. (Note that third parties cannot be associated with any Hockey Fights Cancer™ marks.)

50/50 raffle – Hold a 50/50 raffle and add the funds to the total amount raised in support of the designated Hockey Fights Cancer™ game.*
