Hittin For Hooters 2022
We need your help! Hittin’ for Hooters with the support of the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) is hosting a slo-pitch fundraising tournament in support of breast cancer on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Little Mountain Sportsplex.
In 2019, our very first slo-pitch tournament fundraiser, we were able to raise $23,057; we couldn’t have done it without community support! Our goal is to hit $25,000 in 2022.
The initiative for the fundraiser began December 2018 when I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Having umpired for the CCS’s “Batting Against Breast Cancer” in the past, I reached out to offer my help for the next one. This is when I learned that CCS would no longer be putting on this event. This is where I step up and give back to an organization that has done so much for me. I LOVE slo-pitch softball, I am heavily involved all year round. I certainly share my dedication and love of the sport with many others in the Winnipeg slo-pitch community as a player, convener, manager and umpire. To date, my journey has taken me down that long road to recovery nobody ever should. With the love and support of my family, friends and CCS, I made it through surgery, chemotherapy, radiation and all the side-effects that comes with treatment. I am happy and relieved to announce that I have returned to the diamond since as a player and umpire and doing extremely well! It is time to come back from the dreaded C’s…Cancer and COVID and raise some funds…because cancer doesn’t stop with me. It’s a continuous, vicious monster that many are currently fighting and will be fighting.
Together, we can help ease the burden!
Donations are essential to the success of any event and your support means the world to us. Every dollar raised counts in an effort to reduce the burden of cancer on Canadians. Thanks to your donations, the CCS is able to continue funding the most promising cancer research, advocate for health-protecting policies and provide trusted information, resources and support for every Canadian affected by cancer.
I hope you will take a few minutes to consider our request, and should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 204-770-2585 or Donna-Lynn Guagliardo (Canadian Cancer Society) at 204-786-0601.
Proceeds from our fundraiser will support the fight against cancer
