The Spring Yard Cleanup for Cancer started in memory of the Dad of several of our team members, who had been affected by brain cancer in 2006 and passed away in 2009. We first put together a team for the Relay for Life in Woodstock, raising $4,000 via online pledges.

In 2010, the Spring Yard Cleanup began, raising $7,000 in the first year. The fundraiser continued over the years but was made a stand-alone fundraiser in 2014, with all funds raised going directly to Cancer Research.

In the past 12 years that we have run this fundraiser, you have helped us raise over $1.5 million towards the fight against cancer!

Our goal for this year is to raise $350,000, which will again be directed towards two different research studies. First, a study by Dr. Wrana and his team at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, exploring how colorectal cancer starts and why it spreads. Secondly, a study by Dr. Dirks and his team at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, finding the connection between brain injury and brain cancer. Thus helping find new ways to treating brain cancer.

Our 2022 event is being held in memory of Greg Giesen, who lost his 12 year battle against cancer earlier this year. Greg worked for Delta Elevator and was a big supporter of the construction industry in southwestern Ontario. Delta Elevator has supported the Spring Yard Cleanup in the past and is a Silver sponsor for 2022.
