Coda is a medical student-led fundraising initiative in official collaboration with the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS), as well as running under its supervision. Our goal? Raise awareness for cancer among the youth across Canada by conducting a variety of engaging and informative events tailored to their interests. With the right management and execution of our events, we are looking to provide cancer patients with the help they need and give them the attention and credit they deserve. We decided to choose the youth as our target audience because they are in an ideal position that allows them to have a large impact on the lives of cancer patients, both in a community and a general setting. We realize that no group is better suited to address this situation than a group of young leaders passionate about health and community involvement. Therefore, we put together an outreach plan of action to reach out to other members of our demographic to gradually establish a network of young leaders willing to contribute to the fight against cancer. To do so, we work alongside students in other academic institutions to encourage them to take advantage of their innovative skills and start a Coda seed of their own. With tens of influential and hardworking McGill Medical Students onboard embracing the values of our university, we hope to leave an authentic positive impact on the lives of Canadian cancer patients.

Coda est une initiative de levée de fonds fondée et dirigée par des étudiants en médecine qui collaborent officiellement avec la Société Canadienne du Cancer en plus d'être sous sa supervision. Notre objectif? Sensibiliser les jeunes au cancer à travers le Canada en organisant une panoplie d'événements informatifs et dynamiques répondant à leurs intérêts. En s'assurant de la qualité de l'organisation et de l'exécution de nos événements, nous désirons fournir aux patients souffrant d'un cancer l'aide et le support qu'ils méritent. Nous avons décidé de choisir les jeunes comme public cible puisqu'ils sont dans une position idéale pour avoir un impact considérable sur le quotidien des patients, dans leur communauté et au-delà. Nous sommes confiants qu'un groupe de jeunes leaders passionnés par la santé et l'engagement communautaire est exactement ce qu'il faut pour mobiliser les jeunes. Ainsi, nous avons établi un plan d'action pour aller rejoindre d'autres membres de notre démographie pour les engager dans notre combat contre le cancer. Pour ce faire, nous collaborons avec des étudiants de plusieurs institutions canadiennes pour les encourager à mettre à profit leur talent d'innovateur et de fonder leur propre branche Coda dans leur institution. Avec des dizaines d'étudiants en médecine de McGill travaillants et impatients de commencer le travail tout en mettant de l'avant les valeurs de McGill, nous espérons savoir un effet bénéfique sur la vie des patients canadiens atteints du cancer.
