Canadian Cancer Society - Daffodil Campaign
The Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) is proud to be the champion and voice for Canadians who care about cancer. Through our Daffodil Campaign, we raise funds to help people with cancer live their lives more fully. We support work aimed at enhancing the lives of those affected by cancer.
The daffodil is resilient. It survives our harsh Canadian winters and is the first flower to bloom in the spring, a time of renewal and hope. When daffodils bloom, hope grows and for those living with cancer, the daffodil is a beautiful flower and a powerful symbol of strength, courage and life. Together, Canadians rally around this symbol every year by donating to CCS and proudly wearing their daffodil pin.
Fundraising enables change and we can all have a part in advancing the cancer cause through our generosity. When you donate to the Daffodil Campaign you are helping us fund groundbreaking research and a support system that makes life better for those affected by cancer. Your support serves as an enduring reminder that life is bigger than cancer.
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the world affecting everyone including the people we serve, many of whom are at heightened risk. Currently, more than 1 million people in the country are living with and beyond cancer and could have compromised immune systems that put them at a greater risk of more serious outcomes if they contract COVID-19.
In order to reflect current public health recommendations on social distancing and put the well-being and safety of our communities first, we made the difficult decision to pause some of our fundraising activities until after the crisis has passed. We know there will be a considerable impact on donations as the Daffodil Campaign is our biggest fundraising season of the year. That’s why we are focusing our efforts on online canvassing and encouraging our supporters to donate and receive a digital daffodil to honour a loved one, which they can share on social media. The daffodil’s sunny symbol is more relevant than ever before during a time when we all need to come together and look ahead to brighter days.
