Welcome to Jillian's Road!
Hi Everyone and welcome to Jillian's Road,
August 26th 2019 Jillian was diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer. My name is Jordane Verner and for the past 11 months we have been part of Jillian’s Road. Some of you may know us as family, friends, acquaintances or not at all.
We’re a young family, our eldest is Mailin a gentle and creative young women who knows what she wants and Edden a caring and active young man who loves everything sports. Jillian is extravert by nature who is caring, strong and has an incredible passion for photography. I am very fortunate to have found the love of my life and built this crazy little family.
The idea for Jillian’s Road came up shortly after Jillian was diagnosed with Stage 3C Colorectal Cancer. This was her opportunity to share the good/bad/ugly with everyone who had questions or wanted to check in without feeling that they were intruding. For us, this is a form of therapy. It is our vehicle to share what we are working through, talk about our current hurdles, gain personal perspective of what we’re grateful for and balance our emotions. For our children, it will offer a glimpse back at the time when they would ask “why does Mommies bum hurt”. They can read their Mother’s journey, the love and support that she received along the way and how she controlled what she could control.
On May 21st, 2020 I decided to go for a bike ride, so I dusted off my bike put some air in the tires and set off. Well let’s just say that I haven’t slowed down since. With this new found passion I saw an opportunity to help fight cancer by cycling Jillian’s Road, pun intended. On September 6th I will be riding from our home in Prince Edward County with stops at Belleville General Hospital, Hotel Dieu and ending at Kingston General Hospital. These institutions and the dedicated teams who work there have provided us with our new normal and for that we couldn’t be more grateful. This ride “Jillians_Road” will raise money to help Canada’s brightest researchers make groundbreaking discoveries, provide cancer patients with much needed support and ensure that other life changing work continues to be possible. It is very important to us that we can help pass care onto the next person, their family and their friends who may face cancer. We are aware that we may not be here today with the story we have if wasn’t for someone else who did the same.
We would really appreciate your support. To keep everyone safe we’re accepting donations online - it's fast and secure. Feel free to follow Jillians_Road on Instagram and don’t forget to leave us a note when you donate.
Thank you,
The Verner Family
