Carleigh’s Bike For a Cure
As many of you know Carleigh loves going for long bike rides. Today, as I was chasing her down the bike path, I thought it would be nice to give her a biking goal to work towards during the month of August, before she returns to school. When we got home, Carleigh, James and I chatted and we came up with Carleigh’s Bike for a Cure.
Carleigh’s Grandma-Kristyn (James’ Mom) has been fighting brain cancer for over 13 years. The surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation treatments have impacted her ability to do everyday things on her own and both her long term and short term memory have been impacted. Currently she resides in a long term treatment center where she is being taken care of. During the last few ‘Covid months’ daily visits at her long term care facility have been put on hold but luckily James, his brother and all of the grandkids have been able to visit with Kristyn over FaceTime every few days, while she continues to fight her brain cancer with lots of determination.
Carleigh is going to bike for her Grandma and she is going to raise money to help find a cure for cancer! For every kilometre she bikes James and I are going to donate $2.00 to The Canadian Cancer Society. On August 2nd she started riding her bike almost 5km daily. Her new biking goal is to ride 165 kilometres by the end of the month and to exceed her new fundraising goal of $3000.00 since she has already exceeded her goals of $300.00 and $1500.00.
We are hoping that all of you will help Carleigh exceed her goal by making a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society. If you would like to make a donation towards Carleigh’s Bike for a Cure please click on this link:

Her last day of biking will be August 31, 2020 so she can rest up before school starts. Thank you for all of your love and support. If you would like to join Carleigh for a bike ride please let us know!
