Jim's 10 for 10

On March 7, 2005 Jim passed away after collapsing while playing Broomball. It’s been 10 years since our Brother Jim was taken from us. Jim was diagnosed with cancer when he was 10 years of age. He endured chemo and radiation for several years, before he was given a cancer free checkup. Chemo not only destroys the Cancer it also damages the organs, so for many years Jim took meds to improve this damage.  This didn’t stop Jim though, he led an active life, he volunteered at Cancer Camp for kids, he continued to play hockey, basketball, curling and Broomball.

At the time of Jim’s diagnoses, Corner Brook was not equipped to treat children with Cancer, and travel and living in St. Johns was the only option. There were several years that our parents took turns living in St. Johns’ in a rented apartment while the other parent stayed home with the other half dozen children. This was a burden and expense.

Please donate $1 for every year Jim has been gone….”Jim’s 10 for 10”.

Thanks for your support!

The money raised helps fund the most promising research projects in the country, provide information services and support programs in the community and advocate for public policies that prevent cancer and help people living with cancer.
