Relay For Life at Carleton University 2025

Team Zach

We are participating in Relay for life in Memory of Zach Rogerson. He participated in the Relay for Life in 2021.

He was a patient of CHEO the day he was born. Zach was born with a heart defect, Transposition of the Great Arteries, and had heart surgery at 11 days old at CHEO. Zach was first diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma at the young age of 18 months old. He had 9 months of chemo, surgery and a stem cell transplant. After he was cancer free for 10 years. At age 12 he was diagnosed again with Ewing sarcoma and again did one year of chemo. Following his recovery, he raised money for CHEO and the Canadian Cancer Society by participation in Relay for Life 2021, CN cycle for CHEO as an Ambassador in 2022, participated in the CHEO telethon as a kid reporter in 2022, and led our team over the finish line as our leader in Team Zach in 2023. If you asked him to help he said yes and would have fun while participating. He was always laughing and making jokes. He was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma for a third time at age 15 and fought hard and hoped for a third recovery. He did chemo, radiation and 2 experimental trials at Sick Kids in Toronto. Sadly, a third recovery wasn't to be.
