Like many families, cancer has touched my family in numerous ways. A variety of cancers have affected both my mother and father’s side. Some of these include Breast, Colon, Adrenal, Bone and Lung cancer. However, there was something in particular that occurred that inspired me to pursue this opportunity. In 2022, my dog that has been with my since I was a child, passed away from cancer. I was absolutely devastated because there was nothing I could do to change the situation in that moment. Having started my first year at Carleton University in September 2022, I was granted with the opportunity to join the Relay for Life Committee! I jumped at the offer, taking any chance I could to help reduce the number of losses with cancer.
