Nearly half of Canadians are expected to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. During my undergraduate career, I gained an appreciation for the fight against rare cancers. I worked on a research project investigating novel cancer treatments for leukemia patients who don't respond to traditional chemotherapy. On a more personal level, members of both my family and my community have been, and are currently, being affected by cancer.
