With nearly half of Canadians expected to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, I’m more determined than ever to help change the future of this disease.  Our family has been impacted by cancer with the loss of several family members and close friends, but we have also witnessed first hand how cancer research can make a difference for those battling this terrible illness by early detection and treatment protocols. Our son, Nicholas is a cancer survivor and is now 14 years post treatment.

As a result of our own personal experience with cancer, Relay for Life has been important to us, and our children have worked to make a difference by helping with the organization of events both here on PEI and Nova Scotia. Lauryn was a part of the inception of the Three Oaks Relay for Life in 2017, and both Kristyn and Lauryn chaired the event at STFX while students there. Nicholas in turn has been a guest speaker at all of the Relays at Three Oaks since 2017. This time it is my turn to help fundraise for Relay for Life, and to help our school at Three Oaks reach their goal of $18000 Please help me reach our fundraising goal. No matter how much you donate, every dollar goes a long way. A donation of $25, $50 or $100 could help ensure a team of researchers has the resources they need to make a life-changing discovery, or a patient has access to support services when they need it most. I know this research has made a difference for Nick!
