When I was eight years old, I was diagnosed
with stage 3 Rhabdomyosarcoma. I required 54
weeks of chemotherapy and 28 rounds of
radiation. During the year that I was sick, I lost
the ability to eat. I was fed through a tube in my
stomach. I missed a year of school and spent
months away from home. Some of my
treatments took place at Cheo in Ottawa. It was
hard being away from my brother during that
time. During my illness so many people wanted
to help me and my family. Even though it was a
hard time, we felt so lucky to be surrounded by
so much love. Today I am a healthy 17 year old.I
want to help others who are affected by Cancer
because so many people were there for me
when I needed it most.

With nearly half of Canadians expected to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, I’m more determined than ever to help change the future of this disease. My family and friends could be affected. And that makes it personal.
