My name is Marcia Bax, I am a grade 10 student at eastview secondary school, and I am the person running the MzfBarrie team. My story is really my mom’s story. My moms name is Morgan McLean, in January of 2023 she was diagnosed with stage 2B cervical cancer, she’s a strong woman and fought the fight. She did aggressive treatment, 25 radiation treatments and 5 chemotherapy over 25 days and then underwent 3 brachytherapy treatments. she was only in remission for 6 months when in December of 2023 we were told that the cancer was back and had spread to her lung, this time she was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal cancer. So far she has gone through 45 radiation treatments over 15 days. She continues to fight. My Mom is a strong, brave, fierce, kind hearted, and overall amazing human being. I am raising money this year for her, she is my rock, my ride or die, and my favourite human. I will continue to fight with her and for her forever.

I have so many people in my life that have been affected by cancer.
My Oma Marcia passed away from brain cancer when my mom was just 2 years old.
My Grandmother Mary Jane passed away in 2005 from pancreatic cancer.
My godmother Amanda fought through kidney cancer, resulting in one of her kidneys being removed. She is still here today, she has been cancer free for 8 years.
My grandfather figure Paul Miller also known as “Plumber” passed away after fighting for 2 years against pancreatic cancer in 2023.

My family and I have lost so much to this horrible disease so I will continue to fight.
