Why do I relay?

Over the past few years, I've been searching for a way to express my support for my grandfather, who has been bravely battling cancer for as long as I can remember. This year, the opportunity to join the organizing committee for Relay For Life presented itself, and I felt compelled to submit my application. It's an incredible cause that has had a positive impact on the lives of numerous individuals.

Initially, I had believed that my grandfather would be the person closest to me affected by cancer. Unfortunately, my assumptions were proven wrong. Shortly after midterms last semester, my mother received a diagnosis of breast cancer. This turn of events has made the reality of the cancer struggle much more palpable for me, adding even greater significance to my involvement in Relay For Life.

Pourquoi je fais le relais pour la vie?

Au fil des années, j'ai cherché un moyen de témoigner mon soutien à mon grand-père, qui se bat courageusement contre le cancer depuis aussi longtemps que je m'en souvienne. L'opportunité de rejoindre le comité d'organisation du Relais pour la vie s'est présentée cette année, et j'ai su que je devais postuler. Cette cause est véritablement extraordinaire et a eu un impact positif sur la vie de nombreuses personnes.

J'ai toujours pensé que mon grand-père serait la personne la plus proche de moi affectée par le cancer. Malheureusement, mes prévisions se sont avérées incorrectes. Environ à mi-chemin de la session, ma mère a reçu un diagnostic de cancer du sein. Cette nouvelle a rendu la réalité du combat contre le cancer encore plus tangible pour moi, et elle a donné un sens encore plus profond à mes efforts en tant que membre du comité d'organisation du Relais pour la vie.
