Hi my name is Sofia kramm, I am apart of the Philip Pocock Relay For Life commitee and I would like to share my story 

In October of 2023, my parents sat me down and told me some very heart breaking news. My grandma was diagnosed with stage 4 squamous cell carcinoma in her lungs. She was given 3 months to live and chemo was not an option, the only thing left to do was to make her comfortable. She was transferred to a hospice centre to be more comfortable and to be taken care of. I tried to visit her everyday to make her happy and to be there for her. She was struggling and she began to slowly fade away. It was very hard to watch because how can someone you have known your entire life grow faint and you have no control over it. She slowly began to no be able to talk or stay awake for long. As the days became closer to her passing it was heartbreaking because I knew she would be leaving us and I had no control over it. On December 31st 2023 we got that call, they said she had passed away peacefully that morning. Bad news is the only kind that really can't wait. It was hard to wrap my head around the fact she was gone and there would no longer be visits to her place, no more shared laughs and I would never hear her voice ever again.
