My Chapter was “Holy Heart Chapter 1”; So what is “this”?

My name is Ms. Klemola and I was teaching physical education and textiles at Holy Heart for the first half of the school year before I was thrown a curve ball and diagnosed with triple positive Breast Cancer. There are many different types of Cancers with varying outcomes. Since my diagnosis, I have learned to respect each individual’s journey they experience in life with Cancer and acknowledge that what they are going through can look and feel different than what I am sharing with you about my experience. 

I’m really grateful for all the studies that have gone into the field of Cancer and the fundraisers like this one that help Cancer patients across Canada! After Christmas I went in for surgery and had a lumpectomy and 11 lymph nodes removed. They removed all traces they could see of cancer but because of the aggressive nature of the type of breast cancer that I have, they continue to treat with chemotherapy. I will also undergo radiation and some more medications down the road.

I cannot say enough about the support from family, friends, the school's staff and students.
