Relay For Life at Acadia University 2024: In honour of Ed Muise - Relay For Life

Relay For Life at Acadia University 2024

In honour of Ed Muise

Hi everyone! This year, we decided to put a team together for Relay for Life that is in Memory of our team member Hannah Muise’s dad, Ed Muise. The aim of Relay for Life is to promote physical wellness while raising money for the Canadian Cancer Society.

Ed really valued physical wellness. Participating in many half marathons, and as an active member at the YMCA, Ed instilled the importance of being active to those around him. He was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in August of 2021, and throughout all his treatments, still found time and different ways to remain active. Like Relay for Life, Ed had an undeniable impact on his community, whether it was through his line of work or within many community groups outside of work, like the running room or the YMCA.

Ed sadly passed away in July of 2023 but the values he instilled of a positive community impact and physical wellness have inspired our team to participate in this year’s event.

Colorectal cancer is expected to be the 4th most commonly diagnosed cancer in Canada in 2023 and it is the 2nd leading cause of death from cancer in men. With our proceeds, we hope to make a positive impact on funding research, treatment and hopefully finding a cure while also honoring Ed’s memory.

We hope that if you are able, that you may donate or share this page to raise awareness!

Thank you kindly in advance for your support.
