The COVID-19 health crisis is having an undeniable impact on communities across Canada and around the world. In order to honour our commitment to social distancing and protect the well-being and safety of people living with cancer, event participants, our donors, volunteers and staff, the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) has made the difficult decision to cancel all in-person Relay For Life activities and events until the end of summer. We will be providing details in the coming weeks on new ways to engage with CCS. We encourage Relay supporters to continue supporting the cause through online fundraising. We have various tools and resources that can assist you in your efforts at Learn more about how our organization is dealing with COVID-19 by consulting our latest communication on this subject.

Relay For Life in Burin Peninsula

The Lanterns of Hope

Nearly 1 in 2 Canadians are expected to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. That means half of our family and friends will hear the words “you have cancer"!

May 2012, I was told those words!

I was diagnosed with high grade Adenocarcinoma of the colon, it was invasive in the Right Hemicolectomy and attached to my bladder, I had surgery to remove a third of my bowel!

Six weeks after my surgery I started the first of twelve cycles of chemotherapy!

It changes so many aspects of your life, I'm not one to like a lot of attention centered on me, But for this year I've  changed my mind, I'm allowing it, Because this year I'm Celebrating "Five Years Cancer Free"!
